Crew hours on a phone

  1. 1

    The problem

Crew hours came in on paper and by text, and straight time, overtime and double time had to be sorted by hand before payroll.

  2. 2

    The bees make a plan

A phone-friendly Hours app for ST/OT/DT entry, a Payroll module with a dispatch board showing who is on which job, and links into job cost.

  3. 3

    Build

    • Designed the phone time card with the field
    • Built the payroll run and dispatch board
    • Linked hours to jobs for labor cost
  4. 4

    Test

Tested end to end on a copy of the data

  5. 5

    Where it stands

Built and in testing. Payroll tax calculation isn't included yet, and we say so up front.

The technology we used

Named, because we really use it.

  • TypeScript
  • React
  • PostgreSQL
  • Playwright (end-to-end tests)

Technology names are text only. Naming a vendor is not a partnership or sponsorship claim.
